To all my muslimah bookworms

Salaams, I dont know if any of my readers are bookworms like myself, but I love to read!!!!! I am currently reading A Thousand Spendid Suns by Khaled Hossieni. It is amazing and I will finish it tonight or tomorrow. I just started it this afternoon! Its sooo good. I read The Kite Runner ( by the same author) over the weekend and it was the BEST BOOK I EVER READ!!! Alhamdullilah, this author is excellent! I am also reading From My Sisters Lips, by Na'Ima B Robert, which is pretty good too. I love to read and I am always looking for suggestions. If there are any other muslimah bookworms out there, tell me what your reading!! Share your summer reading list with me.

ohhh i read a thousand splendid suns a while back and it's my favorite book of all time. i also read the kite runner and it was almost as good as the other, but i think i related more to the other one bc it was about women. what those poor women went through was just horrific. enjoy it...i may fish it out again and reread :)
ps they made a movie out of the kite runner, but i didn't find it nearly as good as the book

I'm going to have to get a hold of these books to read in summer! Books I've been reading recently are "Life isn't all Ha Ha Hee Hee" by Meera Syal, and Jane Fonda's autobiography.
I've never read Khaled Hosseini though! I should give it a shot.

Nazish - sealed Nectar is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing! I have to say the first few chapters about hostory of the arabs were kind of lost on me, all those tribes, too much to remember but from the lineage of the prophet chapter it was a page turner all the way to the end. it is simply the best seerah i have ever read.

has anyone reah ihya ulum din?

I read both 'Kite runner' and 'Thousand splendid suns' and what a reads they both were. It was very painful witnessing their lives, yet was a very enriching experience.
I am a novel geek (so to say) and have quite a favorites, but I am afraid they arent by Muslim authors (if thats what you wanted)
Lemme know other wise :-)

infoguide: I would love suggestions for great reads, they do not have to be by muslim authors.I appreciate any suggestions.

Well then, I would recommend you try 'Krsitin Hannah', she is a great author. Start with 'Things we do for love' and 'Magic Hour' both by her; and also 'Swapping Lives' by Jane Green. The list is quite long to be honest with you .. but you may start with those and then I will lead you to more interesting reads ;-)
In the eyes of Islam, I believe Tafsir of Quran by Ibn Kathir is a wonderful read, A must read for every Muslim.
And yeah .. You can call me Maryam :-)

Man, I really have been slacking on my reading.

So, I really don't have any books to recommend. Except, The Series of Unfortunate Events. (I know it's not an Islamic book ahaha). They were so good and addicting!

But I will check out the books recommended, InshAllah ;D

I loved A Thousand Splendid Suns too.

Have you read:

Does My Head Look Big In This? – by Randa Abdel-Fattah (it's more aimed at a teenage audience but its about a girl wearing hijab for the first time and it was a fun read)

Also:

Minaret - by Leila Aboulela is a really good book.
